A Week in Corfu
We are a three generation family here and obviously from different walks in life. family, couple, solo, meta-family, bachelor you name it. Each in his own way has navigated the place and has reflected upon it. These reflections have produced lists of places we agree and disagree to love.
From atmospheric fine dining at dusk in old hotels, to seaside cheap taverns, anchovies festivals, and free camping recipes that require no fork. Spearfishing and rock climbing, to an all-day olive tree shade next to the sea. Books to read, and events to visit. It’s a range of colours and energies.

Forget the museum — there is a limited-time exhibition of posters from the Greek tourism agency. They make the best posters ever, without exaggeration.

Church of Saint Spyridon
The spiritual heart of Corfu. The town’s patron saint. Red bell tower, silver reliquary, and the landmark campanile of the Old Town.

Lunch at Ninos
Cheap local taverna on Sevastianou. Cooked Corfiot dishes, grill, and souvlaki — family-run and unfussy.

Shopping at Barbara Anti-Kairoi
Town Hall Square — handmade jewellery, clothes, accessories, Salty Bag and Greek designers.

A Twist In The Tail — Tribute to the Anchovy
Corfu Literary Festival guest event at Plous Bookshop and Café (91 Nikiforou Theotoki). Christopher Beckman talks about his book on the West’s love-hate relationship with anchovies — from Roman garum to Spanish tapas — with culinary treats, and books to sign and buy. Yiammas!

Official parade past the Serbian Museum
18:00 — more than 20 dance groups from seven countries, plus Corfu. The parade starts at the Serbian Museum on Moustoxidou, then they continue via Town Hall Square and the Liston to the Palace square (concert 19:30).

Dinner at Cavalieri Roof Garden
Probably the most atmospheric restaurant you’ve ever been to. Worth the price. On the rooftop of an old fancy hotel.
